Canelo have acquired a new Second World War saga series by Vicki Beeby.
Commissioning editor Emily Bedford has acquired World English Language rights to a saga series by Vicki Beeby from Lina Langlee at The North Literary Agency in a three-book deal.
Vicki’s latest series will follow three young ladies in the Women’s Royal Naval Service as they navigate new roles, friendships and romances in Orkney. Iris, Mary and Sally have all joined the Wrens for very different reasons, but they soon learn to pull together after being posted to Scapa Flow, Britain’s main naval base during WWII, where adventure and intrigue await them.
Vicki Beeby is interested in the friendships and loves of service women brought together by the Second World War. She has previously written three historical romances under the pen name Tora Williams, the first of which was shortlisted for the Joan Hessayon Award 2019. Vicki’s first book in her Women’s Auxiliary Air Force trilogy, The Ops Room Girls, has been shortlisted for the RNA Romantic Saga Novel Award.
Emily Bedford says: ‘I am ecstatic to continue publishing Vicki’s novels – she’s a dream author to work with and her stories never fail to move me. I can’t wait to immerse myself in the world of the Wrens as I know that Vicki will do an amazing job in bringing to life the dreams and achievements of these incredible women in the war effort.’
Vicki Beeby says: ‘I’m delighted to be working with Emily Bedford and the rest of the team at Canelo on another World War Two series. The support and enthusiasm they’ve shown for my Women’s Auxiliary Air Force books have been second to none, so I know my Wrens series is in excellent hands. I can’t wait to share these new characters and their stories with readers.’
Lina Langlee says: ‘I’m thrilled to see Vicki Beeby return to Canelo, who published her first series with such energy and enthusiasm. Vicki keeps going from strength to strength, and I can’t wait for readers to meet a whole new cast of characters in this exciting World War Two Wrens series.’
The first book in Vicki Beeby’s Wrens series will be published in February 2022, in print and ebook. For more information please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
