Canelo sign a new Cornish school series from debut Kitty Wilson
Canelo are happy to announce that they have signed a two-book deal with Hayley Steed at Madeleine Milburn Agency for World English Language rights to a brand new romantic comedy series from debut writer Kitty Wilson.
The first of the Cornish Village School novels, Breaking the Rules will be published in June 2018. The novel features Rosy Winter, headteacher of Penmenna Village School, which is threatened with closure. It’s up to Rosy to #SaveOurSchool, backed by an ensemble of loveable teachers, PTA mums and local celebrities. When handsome gardener Matt moves in next door and offers to help, Rosy struggles with her home and professional lives colliding. Can she get the guy and save the school?
Assistant Editor Hannah Todd said: ‘It’s been a delight working with Kitty on The Cornish Village School series. I still find myself laughing even after reading the book multiple times and it’s always left me with a big smile on my face. They are the kinds of books that you put down and just have to share with someone else, and we couldn’t be happier that she’s joining the Canelo list.’
Kitty Wilson said: ‘I’m thrilled to be signed by Canelo who have a well-deserved reputation as an innovative and collaborative publisher, with some great authors on their books. Writing this series for them has been so much fun – I’m constantly giggling as I type, so I really hope that everyone enjoys reading about these characters as much as I’m enjoying writing them.’
Breaking the Rules will be followed by a sequel, Second Chances, in 2019.
