Canelo set to publish a Great series by Steven A. McKay.

Commissioning editor Kit Nevile has acquired World English Language rights to a new historical adventure series by Steven A. McKay in a three-book deal.
The series will chart the life of Alfred the Great, from the challenges of becoming king at such an early age after the death of his brothers, through to his final years, all the while in a desperate struggle to combat the continual Viking onslaught on the kingdom of Wessex and the wider British Isles. In doing so, the series will shed light on the Vikings themselves, displaying their piety and loyalty in addition to their ferocious strength in battle.
Steven A. McKay is married with two children and is a rock and heavy metal fan who plays guitar and drums. He was a meter reader in Glasgow for eighteen years but recently took the plunge and became a full-time writer.

Steven A. McKay says: ‘I’ve been mostly self-publishing my books since 2013 and had quite a bit of success with them so I wasn’t particularly looking for a publisher. When Kit, and Canelo, asked me if I’d be interested in working with them, however, I jumped at the chance. Kit was so enthusiastic and the thought of doing a series on Alfred the Great with him really intrigued me. Canelo have a great stable of authors, their covers are always superb, and I’m really looking forward to finally seeing my own novels in high street bookstores!”
Alfred the Great Book 1 will be published in January 2024, in ebook and paperback, with a second to follow in August 2024, with the trilogy rounding off in March 2025. For more information please contact kate@canelo.co
