Canelo and S.J.A. Turney

It’s with great excitement that we announce a grand new partnership for Canelo - with the writer S.J.A. Turney.

Turney is one of the most dynamic authors at work in Britain today. Well known for his historical epics, particularly the series Marius’ Mules, set in the Roman Tenth Legion at the time of Julius Caesar’s rise, Turney is a thrilling and epic writer with a superb eye for detail and a great entrepreneurial spirit.

Aside from his Roman work Turney has written other historical epics and a series of historical fantasy, Tales of the Empire. Canelo will re-issue the existing three works in the series - Interregnum, Ironroot and Dark Empress - and will publish the next installment, Insurgency.

Tales of the Empire is set in a world at once familiar and strange. With echoes of the Roman Empire, it is a world of armies and legions, great cities and empires, wild bandits, engineers and Machiavellian schemers. It ranges from the hot and arid climates to barren mountain wastes. Each book is a self-contained story set within this richly detailed universe. Turney’s characters are always unforgettably real, the writing is truly gripping and sweep and intensity simply fantastic.

Already a successful series and from one of the UK’s most productive, inventive and skillful storytellers, we can’t wait to take these books to a new audience.
