Publishing Director Louise Cullen has acquired UK & Commonwealth excluding Canada and ANZ rights to a new novel by Megan Goldin from Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein on behalf of Rebecca Gardner at The Gernert Company.
Stay Awake is a compelling crime thriller in which Liv Reese, a New York-based journalist, wakes in the back of a taxi with no memory of how she got there. Her hands are covered with writing repeating the same two words: STAY AWAKE. In her pocket is a bloodstained knife. When she realises she cannot remember anything at all about the previous two years, Liv ends up on the run for a crime she fears that she was involved in. Meanwhile, someone is determined to track her down and make sure she never gets a chance to recapture her memories.
Megan Goldin is the author of novels including The Escape Room and The Night Swim. She has previously worked as a correspondent for Reuters and other media outlets. She is now based in Melbourne, Australia where she raises three sons and is a foster mum to Labrador puppies learning to be guide dogs.
Louise Cullen says: ‘Megan’s writing is not new to me, but to read the opening pages of Stay Awake was like a bolt from the blue. Her fresh take on how memory loss makes a person incredibly vulnerable had me hooked from page one. I’m excited to bring her terrific novel to Canelo Crime and believe UK readers will share my enthusiasm for her zeitgeisty, compelling and fast-paced thriller.’
Megan Goldin says: ‘I am thrilled that my new novel Stay Awake will be published by Canelo in Britain and Ireland as part of a global release later this year. Stay Awake is particularly close to my heart perhaps because it was written during one of the longest Covid lockdowns in the world while I home schooled three kids. I’m looking forward to working with Canelo publisher Louise Cullen and her wonderfully talented team to bring Stay Awake to readers who love nothing better than staying awake until the wee hours of the morning immersed in the pages of a gripping psychological thriller.’
Stay Awake will be published in August 2022 in mass market paperback and ebook. For more information please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
