Publishing Director Louise Cullen has acquired World English Language rights to two further books in the DI Shona Oliver series by Lynne McEwan from Anne Williams at Kate Hordern Literary Agency.
Former photojournalist McEwan’s debut In Dark Water was published on Canelo Crime last year, and won glowing praise from readers. Dead Man Deep, the second book in the series, is set for release in August 2022. The third novel will again see DI Shona Oliver investigate crimes in the Dumfries area, while battling major turbulence in her home life as her husband faces criminal charges. With its unique setting on the shores of the Solway Firth, the DI Shona Oliver series delves into cross-border policing, requiring collaboration with the Cumbrian police, and also the involvement of the local RNLI station for which Shona volunteers.
Glasgow-born Lynne McEwan is a former newspaper photographer turned crime author. She’s covered stories including the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the first Gulf War in addition to many high profile murder cases. She currently lives in Lincoln and recently completed an MA in Crime Fiction at the University of East Anglia.
Louise Cullen says: ‘It’s been so exciting to work with Lynne on her first two novels and I can’t wait to see this series develop. Lynne’s brilliant ability to create gripping tension on both the home and professional fronts for Shona makes her a memorable detective that readers are sure to take to their hearts. With planned appearances at major Scottish writing festivals this year, there is bound to be a clamour for new books in the series and I’m thrilled Canelo Crime will be able to publish those in the near future.’
Lynne McEwan says: ‘I’m thrilled to be working with such innovative and supportive publishers as Canelo again and I’m looking forward to two dark and deadly adventures with DI Shona Oliver.’
Anne Williams says: ‘From the moment I met DI Shona Oliver I knew she was a keeper. I’m delighted she’ll be reaching new fans with two further books in Lynne’s wonderful new Scottish crime series.’
The third instalment of the DI Shona Oliver series will be published in May 2023 in mass market paperback and ebook. For more information please contact email@example.com
