Canelo announces the launch of Canelo Horror
July 26, 2023
Canelo announces the launch of Canelo Horror, a new imprint that will honour books and authors that have shaped the genre while charting its own territory to offer the most unique and chilling novels being written today.
Launching on 9th October 2023, the list opens with The Fisherman by John Langan, winner of the Bram Stoker Award in 2016, but never published in the UK & Commonwealth before. The novel follows two widowers drawn into the dark and twisting tale of a local reservoir, one that will bring them face to face with everything they have lost.
This will be followed in 2024 by a host of brilliant authors and projects, a mix of reissues and new publications, including fellow Bram Stoker Award winner Sarah Langan, and finalist Ronald Malfi. There is also a crime-horror crossover from Icelandic author Jóhann Thorsson, and a small-town, supernatural horror series from up-and-coming talent C. M. Rosens.
Commissioning Editor for Canelo Horror, Kit Nevile says: “Horror has always been an area of great personal and professional interest, but the landscape for the genre has exploded in recent times, with ever more titles crossing from niche interest into the mainstream. Even beyond the surge of TikTok buzz, there’s a resurgent respect and appreciation for Horror, from readers and from within the industry. I’m incredibly excited, both for the list’s launch and the potential for Horror in years to come. We aim to bring a diverse and talented group of authors to the fore, and establish our list as one of the best in the country.”
