Canelo Crime set to publish multiple Louisa Scarr crime novels

August 07, 2024

Louise Cullen, Executive Publisher, has acquired World English language rights to two works featuring Detective Kate Munro by Louisa Scarr from Ed Wilson at Johnson & Alcock agency.

Ask Me No Questions follows the aftermath of a vicious attack that left the victim, Gabi, in a coma. Her identical twin Thea could help DS Munro solve the case, but has reasons for keeping quiet – and her silence could see more blood spilled unless Kate can get to the truth. In Nowhere to Be Found, a body is found floating in a lake, and the woman who reports it then goes missing. DS Munro cuts through the rumours about a failing marriage to find the answers, but must race against the clock before another death occurs.

Both novels were previously published under the name Louisa de Lange and will be released in ebook in 2024, with mass market paperback editions to follow. Canelo Crime is also the publisher of Scarr’s much-praised Butler & West crime series, and a new series featuring dog handler PC Lucy Halliday of which the first book, Gallows Wood, was published earlier this year to glowing reviews. A second instalment of that series will follow in February 2025.

Louise Cullen says: ‘Working with Louisa has been a delight – if that can be said of one of the best, and most chilling, crime fiction minds I have encountered. Her writing constantly entertains, whether through expertly plotted mysteries or the wry humour that is frequently on display. It’s a source of great pride to see yet more of her novels on the list.’

Louisa Scarr says: ‘I am over the moon to see the DS Kate Munro novels have another lease of life. I adored writing them and being a part of Kate’s world – I am thrilled they will be republished this year, and with Canelo Crime, who are always a joy to work with.’

Ed Wilson says: ‘We’re delighted Canelo Crime are giving these two brilliant novels a new lease of life. DS Kate Munro was Louisa’s first fictional sleuth, and the prototype Scarr heroine: complex, engaging, and beautifully drawn. Eager readers can look forward to all the trademark twisty plotting and thrills they’ve come to expect.’

Ask Me No Questions and Nowhere to be Found will be published in November 2024 in ebook. Mass market paperback editions will follow in Spring 2025. Memorial Park, the second PC Lucy Halliday novel, will be published in ebook and mass market paperback editions in February 2025.
