Louise Cullen, Publishing Director, has acquired World English language rights to the debut novel of Sarah Lawton from Felicity Blunt at Curtis Brown.
All the Little Things is an intense and gripping novel featuring a mother and her teenage daughter hiding from a dark secret in their past. Since she and her mother left London for a fresh start, Vivian has been accepted as one of the popular girls. But when strikingly handsome Alex enters their lives, Vivian’s world starts to spiral out of control. Her mother, Rachel, has to ask herself: how much can you ever really know a person? Even when they are your own flesh and blood?
Sarah Lawton grew up on the Isle of Wight, and following university she embarked on a career in the charity sector. After a few years of full time parenting, she picked up her pen, and can now be found writing in various locations in East London. All the Little Things was longlisted for the Bath Novel Award 2020.
Louise Cullen says: ‘From the moment I began reading Sarah’s debut, I was hooked. The skill she shows in exploring our willingness to deceive ourselves is phenomenal. With tension that mounts to an excruciating point then explodes into life-changing consequences, this is a novel readers will be talking about long after they turn the final page. I’m thrilled to be working with Sarah.’
Sarah Lawton says: ‘I’m so excited to have found a home for my debut novel in Canelo, and to have had the support of an editor like Louise in honing it. It’s been a great process and I can’t wait to see what happens next.’
Felicity Blunt says: ‘This is a wonderfully tense and disconcerting novel about familial love. The shape it takes, the power it holds and the blindness it can invoke. I’m thrilled that Louise and her team are publishing it.’
All the Little Things will be published in March 2021 in ebook and mass market paperback. For more information please contact email@example.com
